Product design, prototyping and consulting

The first phase in manufacturing your product is to design and create a prototype.

Furthermore, in this initial design phase, it is essential to choose the material with which the product will be manufactured.

The professionals in our Design Department will advise and assist you from start to finish on:

  • Creation of the prototype or model
  • Material for manufacturing the product
  • Production: rotational moulding or injection moulding
  • Decoration and finishing

1.Creation of the prototype or mock-up of the product

To create the product prototype, we have the best professionals and craftsmen, as well as the industry’s top 3D designers.

Depending on the requirements of the piece or figure, we can create this prototype or model using different materials:

  • Production of the prototype or model using wax
  • Production of the prototype or model using plaster
  • Production of the prototype or model using plasticine
  • Creation of the prototype or model in 3D

2.Advice on Materials

The type of material we use to manufacture the product is very important.

The perfect material must be chosen depending on the target audience, purpose and usability of the piece.

A toy for a baby is not the same as a product display for the food industry.

That is why, thanks to our experience, we will advise you on the best material for manufacturing your product.

At Rotomolding Silco, we adapt to your needs and use the best thermoplastic materials:

  • Plastisol: A mixture of resins (PVC) and plasticisers.
  • Vinyl: Better known as PVC or polyvinyl chloride.
  • Polypropylene.
  • Polystyrene.

3. Production Advice: Rotational Moulding or Injection Moulding

Once we have selected the product target and the material, we will decide how the part will be produced.

As a result, we will select the best option:

  • Rotational moulding
  • Injection moulding

Thanks to rotational moulding, we can obtain both small and large hollow parts.

This allows us to save material or create objects that cannot be manufactured using other techniques.

Injection moulding will not allow us to create any type of non-hollow thermoplastic composite part.

4. Advice on decoration and finishing

Finally, you must decide on the best technique for decorating and finishing your product.

At Rotomolding Silco, we specialise in airbrush decoration and pad printing.

Therefore, we can advise you on the best techniques to finish your product.

Airbrush decoration allows for high-quality finishes with incredible gradients.

Pad printing is used to decorate figures with fewer gradients that require a perfect contoured finish.
